The Miners Arms has served over eight hundred real ales since counting started.

When choosing a special real ale to bring in, always for the weekend and typically for special occasions we select interesting and varied ales from all over the country. The local region has a wealth of micro breweries and naturally favourite special beers emerge from them. Our specials reflect this taste and a favourite regional brewery bitter will feature nearly every month.

The Miners Arms favourite pint is ‘Yates Bitter’ from Yates brewery of Cumbria. Yates is a golden hoppy full bodied bitter.

‘Black Sheep Best Bitter’ from Masham is golden, well hopped, dry and refreshing.

Wylam Brewery provide ‘Wylam Bitter’, which is amber with good bitterring and malt with a Fuggles finish.

Wylam Bitter alternates with Mordue Brewery’s ‘Five Bridges’. This is a fruity amber beer with more than a hint of hops and a good bitter aftertaste.

Real Ale lovers will also appreciate the addition of the classic Bohemian Pilsner lager, Pilsner Urquell. Golden in colour with a creamy and dense head, Pilsner Urquell is ‘an uniquely rewarding taste, intensely hoppy, with a balance of subtle sweetness and velvety bitterness wrapped in a gloriously crisp body’.

The Miners Arms supports the charity fundraising efforts of the Tynedale Beer Festival, sponsoring an ale every year and sampling the others.

These are our fine selection of regular ales which provide something for all real ale lovers.
